When Evening Fell Beside the SeaCM (DUNDEE)
Mark 4:35-40 |
When evening fell beside the sea,
our Lord said to his friends,
"Come board the boat and sail with me
until our journey ends."The wind grew strong, the waves crashed hard,
the water poured inside
But Jesus slept down in the stern
despite the rising tide. When fear took hold, his friends cried out,
Don't you care if we die?
Then Jesus lifted up his head
and looked them in the eye.He stopped the winds with just a word
and then spoke to the sea,
at "Peace! Be Still!" the waves were calm.
They drifted peacefully."What made you scared? Don't you have faith?"
he asked the frightened men.
They didn't need to fear the storm,
for he was there with them.Lord, you stayed with them through that night.
Be with us in that way
as waves beat hard against our lives,
from day to stormy day.
