The Mexican National Election - July 2, 2000
We were there to witness the fall of the PRI,  and the dawn of what some people have said is a new age of true democracy in Mexico.  See and hear the celebration on our second day in Mexico.  (Includes an MP3 sound file!)
Cuernavaca
Cuernavaca, "la eterna primavera" - the eternal spring - about 60 miles south of Mexico City (roughly central Mexico) is where we stayed during our visit. It's an interesting city.
Our Host Family
The Kortrights were very gracious hosts, and we even celebrated our wedding anniversary together!
Cemanahuac - Our Language School
We spent a lot of time at Cemanahuac.  See the facilities, some of the faculty and staff, and some of our fellow students.
Tlayacapan (Village of Ceramics)
We took a "paseo" with John and Martha to Tlayacapan, a village near Puebla that is known as the "village of ceramics."
Teotihuacan
Near Mexico City, Teotihuacan is the home of the famous Pyramid of the Sun, Pyramid of the Moon, Avenue of the Dead, a stone city, and Qetzalcoatl, the feathered serpent
Xochicalco
Xochicalco is the home of an underground observatory, two ball courts for "juego de pelota" or ball game, possibly an ancestor of basketball, and an advanced water system. (Includes a Quicktime animation.)
